Over 600 early Child Care leaders attended the Child Care Success Summit in Chicago earlier this month. It was our largest attendance ever. The three days were jam packed with inspiration, ideas, networking, and fun!! If you were there, you probably left with a renewed motivation and a task list at least 3 pages long! If you missed it, here are some of the highlights.
The morning of day one, Sponsor/Keynote speaker Jason Russell, of SEC, reminded us how important safety planning is for our child care centers and inspired us to do all we can to keep our little ones safe. Keynote speaker Sean Stephenson followed, pouring inspiration into our souls to continue making a difference in the lives of others.
Attendees were excited about the wide range of topics offered and walked away with tons of ideas and strategies. Holly Elissa Bruno thrilled attendees with points on Managing Legal Risks. Day one ended with our Exhibitor’s reception, which had over 35 companies represented – all there to help them in their child care businesses. They also mixed & mingled with industry peers from around the country….or should I say from around the WORLD. We had guests from Australia, New Zealand, the U.K., Canada, and Peru at the Summit this year!!
Kris’s afternoon session gave tips and tricks for finding great staff for child care centers. She then invited several members of the Child Care Success Academy to join her on stage to share their journeys of growth to a place of success. The energy in the room was unreal, hearing these stories of rock-bottom-struggle to mountain-top-success!
Day two ended with the Child Care Rock Star Awards. Four finalists (Lucy Cook, Karla McCurry, Kim Pomares, and mother daughter team Jenn Winters & Jordan Rodriguez) presented their inspirational stories of triumph. From increased enrollment and revenue stats to improved staff culture and huge mindset shifts, these business owners overcame truly dire situations to achieve business success. They are all child care rock stars, but only one contestant could OFFICIALLY walk away with that title! Along with Kris, our 2016 winner Ben Poswalk, officially passed the “star” to Kym.
Congratulations to Kim Pomares of Courthouse Academy who was voted 2017’s Child Care Rock Star Award winner!!
Additionally, The Child Care Success Academy Owner of the Year award went to Donna Jensen, and the Director of the Year award to Julie Salmon. Congratulations to all!
The 2017 Celebrity speaker, Marlee Matlin rounded out our final morning and inspired the audience with her story of overcoming obstacle after obstacle, as she found her way to Academy Award winning success, despite her disability.
